Private secluded sites, sites with neighbors, different scenery around every corner. It was clean and quiet. From the outside we sure were not expecting to be very pleased but that was totally not the case. The little cabins look like fun with porch swings.

Saw a fox at night checking out the campground. We were disappointed. You can walk or bike in for FREE; or pay $10 per vehicle. There are some steep roads, but we were able to get our trailer up and down the hill no problem. The KOA staff worked with us to accommodate all of us. The campground is located in a lovely, pastoral area a few minutes drive from the whistle-stop town of Santa Magarita and far enough inland from the coast that we didn't get that coastal fog that hangs around till noon closer to the beaches. We just came back from cabin camping at Santa Margarita KOA with three families including kids ranging from ages 5 to 13. That was the only problem here thiugh. For a very small fee, I had bedding added to the bunk beds and loft. Thank you for a relaxing weekend and for entertaining our kids.We do camping perhaps three times a year. After lunch snow cones by the pool and a water-ballon volleyball game in the afternoon .

It was very dusty due to dry conditions, but a great campsite1st thing on this KOA is the staff is super friendly. Ours had a fridge, stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, flat screen tv's, air conditioners, ceiling fans, towels and kitchen utensils, flatware, dishes, Tupperware, etc. Then my young son did some brush hunting to start a fire with me and somehow ran into a bunch or huge spiders that came after him. We would certainly return!Just finished camping with my little family of four. Kayaking, hiking, incredible motorcycle rides and best of all, an amazing staff that did way more than what you would expect from staff. The only real complaint i have is the lack of a proper playground for small children (5 and under). Contact the business for more information about recent service changes. It took us 5 mins or less to get to the lake and we saw deer, turkey, squirrels, hawks & bats on the way. I thought these guys were shy! My kids all have 4 legs and they were welcomed at this KOA as well. !Beautiful wooded location. Everyone was happy and helpful. But I'm excited to stay in the little log cabins they have, they're adorable!!! There are activities for all ages. I have camped in the desert, snow, beach, mountains, everywhere really :) and always in a tent, so this was new for us.

82 reviews of Santa Margarita KOA "We had a great time here last weekend. A few too many bugs though! We came during the week so it wasn't crowded which was nice.

It was camping in the fact that my friends AT&T iCrap had zero bars and that's about itGreat family camping ! We opted for a basic cabin which was the perfect solution for not wanting to set up a tent yet still being in the middle of nature. The staff was great. The sofa beds were typical uncomfortable sofa beds, so bring something to offset that...like an air mattress or pillow top. They have lot of activities happening on Saturdays, check that before you plan. Mention that you are staying at the KOA to the marina for a special discount on boat rentals. There is a mini mart at the KOA. Just peaceful!!! Whether you are a diehard RV'er, dedicated tent camper, or demand a bit more out of your experience, we can accomadate you. All the bases are covered. Also it's quite hilly. Checking-in and checking-out was great, friendly, eager to assist in anyway, and explained…""Stayed here based on location. An outside rug is helpful. Each site has it's own wood burning bbq/firepit and newer picnic tables. The staff was super Friendly. The real story is the wild life. To be more specific they are the bees, wasps and giant spiders. The property is absolutely gorgeous and the home is so pristine and very comfortable.

There was no privacy, neighbors just feet away. Not very level, under the trees and on soil, not on cement. KOA Santa Margarita is tucked into a hillside with plenty of trees = shade. Our little mini-Doxie somehow escaped the camper when we had gone out. You can ask for a 15-Minute FREE PASS to check out the lake level. Very reasonably priced. 82 reviews of Santa Margarita KOA "I love this place! The bouncy pillow was great for the kids. We picked a deluxe cabin this time due to older folks traveling with us. Santa Margarita KOA in Santa Margarita, CA: View Tripadvisor's 59 unbiased reviews, 34 photos, and special offers for Santa Margarita KOA, #2 out of 3 Santa Margarita specialty lodging. This was out first KOA stay, and we are excited to visit more in the future. Wonderfully spacious campsites, clean bathrooms, crystal clear pool and fun activities for kids. The staff super friendly and eager to make your stay great. I was a bit worried about the coastal weather and wanted a little more shelter than our tent provides. Just went above and beyond to help my family feel welcome and safe. It was perfect!!! We also biked around. We were there for 4-days and did not leave the camp ground... We are  getting ready to make reservations for next year again. The bounce pillow was under construction after some idiot slashed it on 4th of July :( If it was working, that would have been a really cool thing for the kids! We caught bass on a Barbie fishing pole from Target off of a pontoon boat we rented at the lake. The people working here are such a delight and SO welcoming. Definitely recommend and I will be returning again and again!!

Sites were well maintained. Just fine for our little class C. If we had not gotten wedged into space 9, we probably could have ranked this 4star. You might want to bring a mattress pad if you are bringing your own linens. The concert was great.

This included nice, new pillows. The biggest issue we had though was the number of toilets and the placement of them. Imagine camping in a parking lot. You simply will not find parking lot camping at the Santa Margarita Lake Campground, KOA!It breaks my heart a little to give this place 2 stars, but really, the second star is a mercy star. very impressed. Clean and beautiful! Bring a fly trap.Camp ground it just what you would expect from a KOA camp ground clean with friendly staff. If you don't mind communal camping this place will be fine.We made reservations directly with Scott at the KOA. Only complaint is that I payed top dollar for a million dollar view only to be completely…"
