But my DVD seems to be a bit of a faulty one. All this proved a little too darkly uncomfortable for mainstream audiences--yet Alan Partridge was probably the finest British comic creation of the 1990s. There was a comeback for Alan in 2010 in a series of YouTube shorts, a Sky One special called Alan Partridge: Welcome to the Places of My Life in 2012, and a feature film in 2013. The laughter track can render it a little dated, but Alan Partridge remains one of television's very best, and 'I'm Alan Partridge' has aged far better than the spoof chat show that preceded it (for that, buy the BBC Radio version instead) I would give the series 5/5 stars, but because the DVD won't work, I have had to give it 2. And I haven't found anything that Steve Coogan has done post Alan Partridge remotely funny. Invisible City.
