Unfortunately, just one year later, after the 1972 season (after he hit his 3,000th hit), he was on his way back to Puerto Rico to help with earthquake victims when his plane crashed and he died.

I particularly liked the one that shows Clemente at bat at three different ages as he grows up. Some people do not know or have never heard of Roberto Clemente. I knew things about him before but this book had many interesting facts about his life that I wasn’t aware of previously. Although Roberto had some struggles along the way, he did have one friend that helped him with his English and he also was able to meet another great African American named Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Clemente were great legends of our time.What an incredible life cut short too soon. His first at-bat, he hit the ball! When he came back to Puerto Rico he found a girl in a drug store and fell in love and asked her out, sent her letters, then she finally said yes when her parents agreed to let her be with someone. I reccomend this book to younger kids, because this book is a holiday book.

He loved the game of baseball, but had no money for real equipment.
