I can remember watching the Waltons and identifying with many of the things the family were going through. Although the character Mary Ellen was DEFINITELY my least favorite on the show, even she shines with her wedding double episode. The only snag i had with this european version was the lack of programme notes in english. Season 1, Episode 4. The forestry student who previously visited Waltons Mountain (in "The Competition") now returns, and asks Erin to marry him. This is the first season to include dramatic highlights from the episode leading into the credit sequence. WHEN IT ARRIVED I THOUGHT I WOULD TRY IT IN MY USUAL DVD PLAYER AND TO MY COMPLETE SURPRISE. I have now purchased all seasons for my wife who adores them all. So for anyone worried about the German import , dont . ON THE BACK WHERE THE AREA CODE IS WRITTEN IT DOES SAY "NOT RATED" I'M NOT SURE IF THAT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT. After reading earlier reviews I decided to try the so called region 1 imports for series five and six - intending to buy a cheapie multi region player if necessary. Really glad I bought this DVD. I love the Waltons anyway, but I purchased this season before Season 3 which would have been the order for me but I saw a great price on it and I wanted the Christmas episode. I thought Ben's character really developed . Now our two gransons are watching and learning important life lessons as well.
