The City has new desktop and laptop computers in place for employees. Communications Dispatchers are responsible for receiving and dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls for the Police Department and City. Police Officer benefits are described in the Memorandum of Understanding between the Menlo Park Police Officers' Association and the City of Menlo Park, located on our website. The City already has crime analysis and traffic analysis software systems in place. Patrol teams enjoy a rotating 4/12 plan or a fixed 4/10 schedule in specialty assignments. The City has new desktop and laptop computers in place for employees. Individuals may be assigned to work in Streets, Parks, Trees, Water or Facilities depending on their experience. Incumbents are expected to work independently and exercise judgment and initiative. The City realizes the diversity of the community and therefore upon approval, the City pays officers a bilingual stipend. Overall, the department has strong opportunities for specialty assignments, including: K9, investigations, narcotics enforcement, and SWAT / HNT. This is a journey-level class in the Police Records Specialist classification series responsible for maintaining information in specialized departmental databases, preparing and assembling reports, processing payments, and preparing and processing subpoenas, requests for information, and other documents. Our officers continually strive to be the best and achieve high standards; they receive a 5% incentive for achieving their Intermediate POST certificate and 10% incentive for achieving their advanced certificate.
