Sissy Spacek reminded me of a girlfriend of mine from the 1960's--cute, leggy, but as if not of this earth. Uncomfortable to watch but memorable too. As with his other works, the cinematography is almost a character unto itself, there is voice-over narration by one of the characters, and the filmmaker tries hard to impose a sense of epic on a story involving a handful of people.
