Gwent Police (Welsh: Heddlu Gwent) is a territorial police force in Wales, responsible for policing the local authority areas of Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport and Torfaen.Gwent Police currently employs 1,204 officers, 649 civilian staff and 217 Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs).. The Gwent policing area comprises several dedicated Neighbourhood teams made up from regular Police Officers and Police Community Support Officers who are responsible for policing on a Ward level. Crime Investigation The Detective Chief Inspectors based in each LPA oversee the work of Detective Inspectors who manage the crime investigations for the area. At the 2011 census it is the third largest city in Wales, with a city population of 145,700 and an urban population of 306,844.
