Check you are using a Cricut branded Cutting Mat, specifically for the Cricut Maker. I was very excited to get the product as I had been weighing up buying it before the purchase.

Please check the correct Cricut Cutting Blade is inserted. I use mine primarily for cutting out fabric and I love how easy it is to do it. It has the tools to cut hundreds of materials quickly and accurately, from the most delicate paper and fabric to the tough stuff like matboard, leather, and basswood.

Switch to Knife Blade (sold separately) and cut thicker and denser materials for added dimension and depth.

When she opened it there were no cutting mats which is pretty important to be able to use. There are quite a lot of reviews that state parts missing.
