Ordered and received one of these, one of the most frustrating things I've ever used which in effect made it useless.

I want to return it, but have yet not received information from Leap on the procedure for doing that. You guys should submit that video for a Webby award.

I returned it.

I hope so.Snorted coffee all over keyboard when the Benny Hill music started.

Maybe if there were a rich enough vocabulary of gestures that could provide shortcuts to functionality then the arm fatigue would be less of an issue. How well does it handle vertical hand orientations? When playing with Leap's own software, I find the tracking is fluid, reliable, and fun to play with.

(0.00001 m, or 10 micrometers). This disappoints me because there could be a more diverse and successful app store by now if they had released it long ago instead of polishing OS interaction which is still not all that great and is done through an app from the app store anyways, not built in so much.Underwhelmed also but I think the problem is that 3rd party apps 'use' it (or see it) like a 'mouse emulator' and/or a 'tablet touchscreen emulator' hence the issues.I'm skeptical of the Leap, or something like it, ever taking off because of the arm fatigue issue. When playing with third party software, I find this is not true at all.

Epic.

Ten participants played the three melodies in two lighting environments (lighting = 136.987 lux, non-lighting = 0.0513 lux) using three experimental settings. Leap Motion 77,926 views. Using a mouse or horizontal touch screen/pad requires way less effort than holding your arm up in the air, even if you're resting your elbow.

I have to say that I'm not very impressed. I am sure the developers made sure they had a stereoscopic sensor arrangement. This study proposes a serious game composed of three melodies to assess the performance of LMC on identifying finger flexion in two lighting environments. Hotly anticipated gesture-recognizing device doesn't quite do it for us yet.Looks beautiful but sounds like it's missing some seriously good consistent support. Wise, Aged Ars Veteran It is slow, the sensors are finnicky, and barely qualifies as wireless. It is essentially the gesture equal of trying to put a square peg in a round hole, if you take your time and hammer the peg in it eventually goes in but doesn't go in very easy.Hmmm, I've been playing with it for a few days now, and while my experience was quite similar on the first day, it is a bit different now.

The Google Earth bit had me laughing out loud This is very much my experience.

Seniorius Lurkius First of all, I think the tracking is worse because now the Leap isn't stationary (I'm not 100% sure about this).

Damn you Ars.That video is brilliant. I saw the Kickstarter for the Leap and thought it looked pretty nifty. Having to have line of sight to the sensor usually isn't too bad there because you are specifically looking at TVs when you are wanting to use a remote control. Statistical tests revealed that only there was a significant difference between the performances of LMC in lighting and non-lighting environments in the pairwise sensitivity for the thumb in the experimental setting 1 (p-value = 0.036).

Hutchinson you fucking porn-trolling piece of shit faggot bitch. Maybe someone could combine it with Kinect 2.0 in order to increase the breadth and depth of zone in which gestures were captured and use the "funnel" above the keyboard where Leap has it sub-millimeter precision to capture ZBrush style clay modelling actions, or just be a cheaper WACOM tablet alternative, perhaps with the addition of a sloped glass panel.
