And it's true that it gives them context that can make the next siege feel different to the last one no matter how similar they actually are in play. It's a version of history that's closer to an epic movie, where the broad sweep is familiar but subtleties are ignored whenever they would be inconvenient to the action.That said, it's still the kind of epic where you'll also have to increase three different types of income by small percentages. I will never forget Rome 2.Total war Warhammer already subverted that infamous reputation. For whatever reason the actual battles never clicked with me, they are a bit "dull" and I just cant seem to find as much fun in them as I had for example in Warhammer 2.

Of course there's none of the over-the-top madness of the Warhammer games, because there aren't hydras breathing fire or giants swinging treetrunks around, but there's also none of the individual clashes that made Shogun 2 so much fun to watch. Whenever I ask a neighbour for something there's a button to automatically figure out what it would take to make that deal work. Unique units, buildings, and resources add some nice variety in play style though nothing drastic. On the upside each member of your court can be given an assignment, attaching them to a settlement and giving it some kind of bonus. Better? And then on his turn a diplomacy pop-up informed me he wanted to surrender and abdicate.A relatively bloodless victory is nice and all, and it's a credit to the AI that it knows when it's about to be beaten, but it was a hell of a downer way to end a campaign. As you play more, you'll find certain heroes you will come to like, and there are a lot of fun little ways to try to sway them to your faction (marriage, spy actions, or outright smashing their home faction while treating them with respect).The faction differences are subtle, but enough to be interesting. I always go back to playing 3KI was the type of player who went back to WH2 all the time for the battle, but upon returning to 3K recently, I'm now the opposite.My biggest problem with 3K on release was the unit diversity, as the most effective strategy was to spam militias with trebuchets, crossbows, and godly generals, making every battle the same.But now, militias no longer dominate the game, and I'm finding each type of general and unit has their own strengths, making diverse army compositions viable.Once the battle had become fun again, the pros of 3K came to shine. At a certain point in the campaign the three leading warlords are declared kings and have to fight it out to determine who will be sole emperor. At least, that's the impression I get from a combined experience of watching the T.V. Seems like the general consensus is that this is the best Campaign experience total war has ever had by a big margin, but the battles are a bit lackluster in comparison to the spectacle and faction diversity in the Warhammer games. I could have said no to the offer and carried on the war but it would have felt like bullying at that point. This prompts the second and third most power factions to do the same.
