Very beautiful just before sunset. Seeing the Indian art at the top was very nice. Coming out of Ivins, it's on the left. Looping down on the tava’itsi trail is NOT what you want to do. Easy walk on a clear trail, but there is a mild slope the whole way up.

Took my 7 year old and 5 year old and they enjoyed every 3 miles of it Great little hike in a beautiful area. Now there's a mailbox (#3333) next to the post on the left, makes it look like someone's private road, but it's not. Very cool petroglyphs! We ended up going just under 6 miles due to some exploring and just enjoying the nature. When you get to the sign at the top of the switchbacks, you need to drop down into the rocks to see the pictures.

There are all over the wall where you can find people's lost objects such as a large automobile.

We went pretty early right at sunrise and we didnt see anyone on the way in but on our way out at around 9 there were a lot of people walking in.


The surrounding views are great and the petroglyphs make for interesting conversation. The best hike near Santa Clara is The Altar via Riverside Walk, a 2.0 mile out and back trail in Zion National Park. However, I did see two rattlesnakes - one crossing the trail and one coiled up about 2’ from the trail. But overall great hiking spot. This was a really fun trail. There is a swinging rope and a jumping dock.
