This interpretive center will introduce you to the history of the area, teach you about local wildlife and give you fun ideas for adventuring in the park! The Pismo Preserve opened to the public on January 26th 2020. There's a lot of small shops and restaurants and a lot of beach. The Dunites were a primitive settlement of free thinkers, artists, writers, and mystics that lived in the dunes beginning in the 1930s. Everyone can listen at the same time!

We closed temporarily in mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They predominantly lived in the area they named Moy Mel (Gaelic for “pastures of honey”). There's a lot of small shops and restaurants and a lot of beach. Camping is allowed south of Post 2 on the beach and in the open dune area. Pismo Beach does have a large recreational vehicle park and campgrounds where camping is permitted. Yes, for limited days and hours. Good place to get away and relax with friends.
The pier is currently undergoing repairs and is closed to the public, although the adjoining Pier Promenade area remains open and accessible.
