I came to Lake Bled to attend a wedding on the island. The bride and her bridesmaids were getting ready in a spacious hotel suite with the lake view. The scenery was beautiful. Small Bled island is located in the western area of Lake Bled, to where it is possible to come with a special boat, named pletna.

Bled, especially its island, has been attributed with magical powers since long times. There is also some great activities around the lake. There were 250 wedding guests who came to Bled, climbed into the pletna rowing boats, went to the island and got to the church on time, attended a reception among the trees, had photos taken, and then the same 250 people returned to the boats and back to the mainland without anyone getting lost or drowned.
Our guests were excited to travel to the lake by pletna boat and to see the island which is beautiful and really like nowhere else on earth! The lovely cafe staff were waiting at the top of the stairs with a well earned glass of water for him! There were 250 wedding guests who came to Bled, climbed into the pletna rowing boats, went to the island and got to the church on time, attended a reception among the trees, had photos taken, and then the same 250 people returned to the boats and back to the mainland without anyone getting lost or drowned. I was there mid week but it didn't seem to busy at all despite what i had heard. I also liked the art gallery and the souvenir shop, particularly the postcards showing the island covered in snow in the winter. Go to the camping side. It is tradition for the groom to carry the bride up the 99 steps to the island and my groom managed it! A little island in the middle of the lake, home to a Church of the Assumption and its famous wishing bell which echoes out across the water, reminding us that all we need is love. Highly recommend the Vila Bled for a wedding meal -- we had a private, gorgeous spot on the terrace overlooking the gardens, lake and island church -- the food and wine and service were excellent, the setting elegant and beautiful, and the view was glorious. Lake Bled (Slovene: Blejsko jezero; German: Bleder See, Veldeser See) is a lake in the Julian Alps of the Upper Carniolan region of northwestern Slovenia, where it adjoins the town of Bled.The area is a tourist destination.

Wedding in the church of St. Martin. We managed within an hour to be back on shore. The terrace in front of the church is a perfect place for a wedding toast and spacious enough for all guests to relax, chat and simply enjoy the special moment. Our guests couldn't stop complimenting every part of the wedding day - the gorgeous Bled's landscape, the incredible Lake Bled Castle wedding venue, the beautiful beautiful reception venue, all the amazing food and drinks and the music at the party.

Before leaving the Island we had some photos in the lovely woodland around the church. Bled Castle. Its spiritual significance dates back to pagan times when a temple to the goddess fertility was built on the same spot where the old church stands today. Petra and her staff selected gorgeous bouquets and table floral arrangements for us.

Following this there was a reception outside the church with lovely 'bled bucksfizz' sparkling wine cocktails, which were served by a great team. The views from the water are exquisite.

It was a wonderful experience and we didn't have to pay the entrance fee to get into the church and look at the beautiful frescoes on the walls. Beautiful spot. We rowed to the island, walked around (we didn't pay to enter the church, but it looked fun to climb the tower). Bled Island sits in the middle of beautiful Lake Bled. It was fun. After this we went into the church which is absolutely stunning and had our blessing by my husband's father who is a pastor. One of the most iconic weddings abroad locations; Lake Bled is nestled away amongst snow-capped mountains for most of the year, but in summer is blessed with beautiful sunshine which reflects on the huge lake.
