Super way to find little-known gems in your own town. I have done my own version of the secret stairs walk around the Echo Park and Silver lake area for years now but this book tops them off nicely with historical side notes and a reliable distance that get my big black lab nice and tired.

You will learn lots of little historical tid-bits as you follow this guide, and I found that it sparked my imagination when trying to picture what the city would have been like in another era. I've lived in Los Angeles for most of my life and never even KNEW many of this hidden staircases even existed!
