I guess I never really outgrew it, and that was convenient when I was raising my children—I always had a good book handy for them to dive into. Try these curated collections. The storylines and characters are well thought out and the vivid descriptions introduce the reader to two worlds not common to outsiders. Plus, talks of ghost are real in here, especially when it comes to one person in particular. Everything runs on a schedule, and everyone knows her.

There are no redeeming qualities to any of the characters. It seemed that Darlene was working toward creating a future for herself despite her family circumstances. . Lexington Willow (so named by her foster father Roger Marsh, zoo train engineer and the man who found her being sheltered by Nyah the zoo elephant in the aftermath of the tornado) yearns for a family of her own. Oh and beautiful book cover too. Whatever the reality, I don't doubt that Jane Devin has been through the wringer and I definitely admire her resilience and creativity.Hard to read for a few reasons. These were Jane's reflections of her life growing up, yet there was no character development, and no insight into - WHY? Willow was found in a zoo after being saved by an elephant during a tornado. I had to put the book aside a few times, to read something lighter, because I would start feeling very moody and sad after reading for a time. I want to stand inside the circle of other people and be noticed for the right things, but it seems like the wrong things are always bigger. Safe inside the zoo fence, she knows what to expect.
