I came to this short book whilst looking for more work by Robin Sloan

The only bad thing about it is that it's far too short! It is August 1969. Find all the books, read about the author, and more. Ajax I am deeply obsessed with Robin Sloan’s voice, and the world he has created with Penumbra. It was a bit hard to get into at the beginning but I really liked it and it’s definitely a great addition to the story!A lovely little glimpse into the awesome Ajax Penumbra's life and how he ends up in San Francisco. That he was searching for a BOOK. Robin Sloane should definitely stay within the boundaries of short stories.An interesting and quirky little story. I think that's also exactly why this is 'only' a three-star read for me: it just doesn't compare up to the brilliance that was Mr. Penumbra. You can smell the city (and sometimes the people). Buy a cheap copy of Ajax Penumbra: 1969 book by Robin Sloan. The Summer of Love is a fading memory.

Anyway, my feeling is that if you are bookish and like reference hunting, and/or enjoyed Mr. Penumbra's ... you'll like this short, too. Oh, boy. There was  Still recommend this though!A fun, essentially preface, to Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore. From Robin Sloan, author of Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore, It is August 1969. Wonderful. I loved the 24 Hour Bookstore so was pleased to find this short story to give me some backstory on Penumbra.

Hopefully, they are meant to be explained in a new Penumbra novel that is yet to come!A fitting prequel to Sloan's Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore. I love the secrecy of it all. It's more solidly based in the "real" world, no mystical creatures yet! I received a second copy of the wonderful I didn't know this was a thing.
