And I had a little house in Tottenville so I decided, well, Ill move into this big housein hereand Ill get rid of all the property that I have in Tottenville. So you really cant even try to say what does it feel like? They were all womens stuff. Because there was a big double parlor like this on one side of it. Burke: To put it backbecause the house was ruined, it was in terrible shape. And she said, George, do you know who this is? and with her big Southern accent. When I bought the house, the real estate people, they wouldnt go in. The Secret Service, as well as a Cohasset school accounting specialist and the superintendent, are determining how much the operation cost the town. I think I got the two of them for five bucks or something like that. And you would have been taxed in this country if it was already like that. And I said, Well, the smell is still there. And I said to her, Whatever happened to the old girl? And she said, Well, years ago, when she died, she said, she was laid out in the front parlor in the coffin, and it was nothing but lilacs. Q: I wanted to ask, also, theres a painting of you in the house, right? Daller: It was like, we cant even find him anymore. When I bought it, I didnt know what was that ones house. So I said, Well, I would have named it The Rossville Inn because it was in Rossville, but he will he loved Bermuda and he wanted Bermuda Inn. So I said, Yes, John, well call it the Old Bermuda Inn. The one in particular, United States Steel [Corporation]. So the next day, Im up and Im outside. You want to take down every statue thats been there for a thousand years because, No, that statue shouldnt be there. They cant just say, The doors are open for anybody, just walk in! Somebody will walk in, and say, Oh, I like those chairs, pick them up, and take them, and theyll be gone. Burke: I went and I was stationed in England, and I loved being in England. They are Chinese Chippendale. So I figured, hmm! So I went down in Rossville and I bought a beautiful, big old, rundown place and restored it completely. But under that porch was the basement. And right outside the window right here, is a great big round, thing thats all brickgreat big round thing, big as this room, covered-overand thats where all the water from the drain pipe from the roof would go in there and fill it, and it was called a cistern, and that was connected to the kitchen downstairs.
